Step into my world. I'd like to share pieces of myself and my journey that have shaped me into the professional I am today.
In December 2022, I graduated from LSU with a B.A. in Mass Communications, concentrating in Public Relations, and a minor in English. So far, I have held the titles of Intelligence Analyst, Sales Lead, Bartender, Communications Manager, Waitress, News Writer, Makeup Artist, Soldier, and First-Generation College Graduate. I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, where I attended high school at Mount Carmel Academy. My passion for communications was fostered by my experience living in a city full of love, passion, and community.
At 18 I joined the Louisiana Army National Guard. I graduated from Basic Combat Training and The School of Military Intelligence as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst. I currently obtain a Top Secret Clearance. My duties include collecting and analyzing sensitive data to ensure mission capability and success.
What does a professional look like to you? To me, it is the freedom of expression. It is being authentic to everyone around you, but most importantly, to yourself. Assumptions can be drawn based on what a person wears or how they look, but never on how they make you feel. I am a professional, a soldier, and also a creative. Being the most authentic version of myself—that's professionalism to me.
I began doing makeup as a teenager. Over the years, I have kept up with the latest beauty trends, products, and artists. I've done makeup work for birthdays, weddings, proms, graduations, baby showers, etc. My passion for makeup comes from empowering women to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. In October 2022, I was hired as a Special Effects Makeup Intern for The 13th Gate, one of the top haunted houses in the country. I learned various new makeup techniques alongside professional makeup artists. Makeup will always be my favorite form of art, and I will continuously develop my skills.
We have two options: we can complain about the world around us, or we can roll up our sleeves and get to work. Change happens at all levels, and I believe that any act of service, no matter how big or small, can have the greatest impact. On even the darkest of days, we can say that at least we tried, then wake up tomorrow and do it all over again. My drive comes from fighting for those who may not have the ability to advocate for themselves.
My beliefs are who I am and what I stand for. I believe that every person has dignity, regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, sex, circumstance, etc. I am a firm believer that one million starts with one. There is no change if there is no action. I am, and forever will be, a person who is not afraid to speak out, go against the grain, or stand alone for something I believe in.
I've worked in the service industry since the age of sixteen. I've held the positions of head waitress and lead bartender. Working in the service industry has allowed me to nurture my interpersonal skills and form quick, meaningful connections. Working in a fast-paced environment has taught me to adapt and remain calm in stressful situations. Making people feel welcome and comfortable in my presence is the most important impression I want to leave on others.
